Linnea Tober is a ‘colorist’ at heart and thrives when playing with color in her abstract works. Her photography focuses mainly on nature and the intricate textures, shapes and shadows it creates. Tober shoots those images, always thinking of what they can ‘become.’ She describes herself as a painter with a camera and creates her own ‘nature photographic abstractions.’ Sometimes you can see the original image and sometimes not;it all depends on where the muse takes her. She believes the true photographer does not wait for the shot to happen, but they make it happen. Tober works with Mother Nature rather than against her. She is also a healer, working with plant and color energy. She infuses reiki energy into all of her designs. Tober is a strong advocate of giving back to the community through her art and often does fundraisers that donate to causes she feels passionately about. Charities she gives back to include animal welfare, homeless shelters, Period.Inc (which assist women in poverty to obtain feminine hygiene products), and charities assisting awareness of auto-immune diseases, cancers, etc. Helping others with her art is Tober’s true passion. Her dream is to one day open a non-profit art gallery where she can select a different charity every month to donate a portion of her art sales to.
Tober’s newest works are her ‘NAMASTE” series. These images are very personal as she is a practicing yogi and reiki practitioner and is pursuing her yoga teacher training next year. She created this series to be shown and sold in local yoga and healing venues, such as Lunar Bay Studio, Bel Air, MD, Pura Vida, Perryville, MD, Chesapeake Bay Yoga, Northeast, MD and Be Well acupuncture, Havre de Grace, MD. Linnea’s art has always been healing (she, herself has several auto-immune diseases, severe endometriosis/adenomyosis, which caused her to have to undergo several surgeries and a full hysterectomy two years ago, as well as fibromyalgia, and Celiac Disease). Tober has been focusing on more yoga-related subject matter as of late. She is always looking for more healing spaces to show her works!
She is also working with Studio 723, in Havre de Grace, MD, designing women’s circles which incorporate crystals, chakra healing, color therapy, moon energy, yoga, and reiki. The next one is scheduled for July 27th. Follow her Facebook page, Metamorphosis Gallery, for the event details.
Linnea Tober was born and raised in Monmouth Beach, NJ and now lives in Havre de Grace, MD. She has been a professional artist for over 15 years, exhibiting and selling nationally and internationally. Linnea received her A.A in desktop publishing/graphic design from Brookdale Community College, her B.A. in Art History, with a minor in painting from Kean University, and her M.A.T from Monmouth University in Art Education.
